PROCEDURE:

1. The physician who wants to test the urine for prognosis the results should not be told to the patient as it is against medical ethics.
2. Results can be conveyed to relatives.
3. Modern medical science emphasizes experimental proof before anything is accepted or rejected.

5. Take a wide mouthed washed, cleanest earthern shallow vessel without oil contamination.
6. Collect midstream early morning specimen of urine of the patient under test and pour in the above vessel and expose it to the morning SUN LIGHT after and sometime.
7. Take a dried grass straw, dip its tip in gingilly oil and take care to put one drop of oil in the middle of the collected urine specimen under sun. Do not add more than one drop.

For prognosis interpret the results as under:
1. If the drop spreads over the surface of urine collected the patient recovers fast under treatment. If it does not spread and remain as a 'drop only' the recovery will be doubtful. If the oil drop spreads assuming various shapes some of them described below, simultaneously indicating outcome/prognosis of the patient from illness. A. Satisfactory recovery is expected if: Oil drop uniformly spreads over the entire surface of the urine collected OR if it assumes the following shapes such as:

(b) Elephant
(c) Traditional fan (Telugu 'vinjamara')
(d) Umbrella
(e) Garlands used to tie over openings of the doors on the auspicious occasions

(f) Mountain shape
